Today at the Vicarage : The Betsy

Firstly, a confession. Or more accurately a retraction. A distressed Sean Fitzpatrick called to correct my diary entry concerning the "massaging of barcodes". Firstly, the artist involved was not Phil Collins. Secondly, the record label was not the ever excellent, unimpeachable, Virgin Records, and thirdly, the scam does not effect the royalties paid to the artists - which are based on units sold to the stores, not the barcode readings. He is threatening to visit me next week to administer a slapped wrist in person.

Secondly, I am excited to announce that I have approved the outline for thirteen episodes of the Vicar Chronicles, thanks to the energy and conviction of Donbledore and the skill of Dr Unnecessary.

This may, therefore, be a good moment to address the question, raised in the guestbook, of why I feel that my diaries are worthy of such attention.
There are a number of possible answers:
1. They are full of juicy scandal which will make me lots of money and allow me to lead a life to which I would like to be accustomed.
2. I am an egocentric megalomaniac.
3. There are certain moments when we are granted the opportunity to influence the world around us - for better or worse. One such opportunity has been granted to me, and I trust that if I act in the spirit of Discipline, Integrity and Justice, the repercussions will be the right ones.

Donbledore likes the third reason. I personally feel that the first two are more than sufficient.
